This project took me through the entire design process of an fictional airborne vehicle. There was a fictional war going on (World War style) and it was up to me to either pick the side of the empire or pirates and create a flying war vehicle. I chose the side of the pirates as I felt there were much more options for the design.
Off course, I can’t draw vehicles, if I don’t know how to draw them. So I started out with drawing a few plane related components. This gave me more confidence to proceed to the design process. I created dozens of silhouettes and sketches in the horizontal phase. This, later, got me to pick a favourite thumbnail which I took with me to the next phase. This phase also included a photobash, which had to be made in Photoshop.
After making dozens of thumbnails, I had chosen my final design. This had to be drawn on A3 Format, two perspective drawings of opposite viewpoints. It was important that there is a variation in line thickness and clear view of texture. In addition to this final drawing, I had to add shading to my flying object.
